How To Change an old Radio Cabinet into a Storage Cabinet
How to Change an old Radio Cabinet into a Storage
Cabinet
We purchased this old radio cabinet at an auction in South Jersey. It was
green in color and most of the radio tubes had been taken out so some of the work was done for us. We sanded all the old green
finish off. We then took off the back of the piece and gutted it. We then put one small shelf across the center inside. We
then cut a piece of wood for the back, painted the inside while it is open, which saves a big hassle, and then installed the
back. We then painted the outside in an off white and I added an antique stain. There was incising in the wood which made
a box design and I took advantage of the design and used it for help in flower placement. We then sold it to a customer
who uses if for linen in her dining room. We always use polyurethane to finish. It protects your project and gives it
long life. It is an extra step that is worth taking.
